The Journal of JAEE

1. Regarding Special Editions

The Journal Editorial Committee wishes to take up timely subjects related to earthquake engineering such as technical issues that cut across various fields, leading-edge technical issues, etc. in the special editions. We wish to aggressively utilize the characteristics of electronic journals that provide the required academic journal papers at any time and any place. For the special edition, we would like to invite submission of technical papers and technical reports related to specific themes through organized sessions (OS) at the Annual Conventions, symposia, and through our members, and publish them as the Journal of JAEE. We would therefore invite you to actively submit your manuscripts for the special editions.

2. Acceptance of Special Edition Proposals

Please submit the special edition proposal by E-mail to the Journal Chief Editor.

1) Planner:

• In case of request: This is a case in which the Journal Editorial Committee requests the OS or symposium planner to plan the special edition. There will be cases in which the Journal Editorial Committee makes its own plan.
• In case of open invitation to the public: Any Individual Member can become a planner.

2) Proposal requirements:

Please include the following items.

• Planner's name, affiliation, membership number
• Theme of the proposal
• Reason for the proposal
• Name of the Special Edition Chief Editor (This person will be asked to send out an open invitation to the public for journal papers as needed, coordinate the authors, request materials from the authors, write the manuscript for the opening statement of the special edition, etc. This person may be the same person as the planner.)
• Organization of the technical papers/technical reports (Names of proposed authors; not required in case of open invitation to the public)
• Proposed schedule from invitation of technical papers/technical reports to submission

3. Proposal Review, and Deciding the Special Edition Chief Editor and Participating Committee Members

• The submitted proposal will be discussed within about one week or less by the Journal Editorial Committee, and a decision will be made on its acceptance.
• The Journal Chief Editor will notify the result to the planner. If the proposal is accepted, the chairman will appoint the Special Edition Chief Editor and participating committee members from the Journal Editorial Committee.
• The participating committee members from the Journal Editorial Committee will work with the Special Edition Chief Editor closely to communicate/coordinate the implementation of peer review of submitted technical papers/technical reports.

4. From Invitation of Technical Papers/Technical Reports to Review for the Special Editions

1) Technical papers/technical reports submission method:

The technical papers/technical reports submission method will follow the Submission Rules for the JAEE Journal. At that time, we will ask the Special Edition Chief Editor to request submission of technical papers/technical reports to the expected participants. In case of open invitation to the public, the Special Edition Chief Editor will invite submission of journal papers for the special edition through the JAEE NEWS and the homepage.

2) Technical papers/technical reports editing method:

The technical papers/technical reports editing method will follow the Editing Rules for the JAEE Journal. At that time, the specific editing work will be done through close communication between the Special Edition Chief Editor and participating committee members.

3) Technical papers/technical reports peer review method:

The technical papers/technical reports peer review method will follow the Peer Review Rules for the JAEE Journal. As a general rule, the participating committee members will select the reviewers, but requests (up to two reviewers per edition) from the Special Edition Chief Editor will be taken into consideration when making the selection.

5. Publishing the Special Edition

The special edition will be published as soon as the technical papers/technical reports are ready.
