Event guide The Japan Earthquake Engineering Symposium (JEES), which was first held in 1962, has been held approximately every four years, during the interim years of the World Conference on Earthquake Engineering, "WCEE"). It has come to play an important role as a venue where researchers and engineers in the various fields of earthquake engineering come together in one hall for an exchange of views. The forthcoming 13th Japan Earthquake Engineering Symposium (13JEES) is to be held in 2010, the number of sponsoring organizations of which has grown, as a reflection of the expansion of the field of earthquake engineering. An international panel discussion will also be held, to which researchers and disaster prevention representatives from the Asian region will be invited, as the first step towards internationalization. Furthermore, the ten year anniversary event of the Japan Association for Earthquake Engineering is also scheduled to be held during this symposium.
